April 2014

April 2014, yeah you read that right.  I'll catch up.  I WILL...eventually.

What a nice slow quiet month we had in April of 2014...well as quiet as it can be with two boys running a muck about the house.  There were some firsts, some outings, some celebrations, all good for the soul and packed with little memories.

Firsts
Facebook - April 14
"Momma, will you cuddle with me?" I know, hits ya smack dab in the middle of your heart doesn't it?"
Oh my heart about burst when he asked me to cuddle with him.  It's not like we haven't cuddled before but it was the first time he asked ME not me asking him.  I HAD to capture the moment because I don't know when it will come again.
Facebook - April 26
"Most people would recoil. Me? I beam with pride! His Momma had a snail farm when she was a kid (I was saving them from my Mom's salt shaker), of course he loves the slimy little critters."

Their first set of clubs.  Their Daddy was so excited with hopes of future bonding outings with his boys.

Outings

Our 1st outing to the Natural History Museum and I'm sure it won't be our last.  It made quite an impression on our aspiring paleontologist.  Here are a few pics from their prehistoric outing.

Filling His Brain with  Dino Facts
Who knew?
Kaz was so psyched to see his favorite dinosaur, Triceratops!  He was beside himself with wonderment and glee.  Mom and Dad were not so psyched to see the coyote diorama because we have coyote's in our backyard and our neighbors cat looks exactly like the one its carrying in its mouth, but then Kaz said, "LOOK, she's carrying her baby!"  WHEW!  "Yeah, look at that.  She is (a look of relief on our face as we shoot nervous glances at each other.)"

Celebrations

Someone turned the big 4-0 and in true 40 year old Daddy style he rocked it with his kids.  Zane thought the whole thing was awesome because there was dessert involved and chocolate brownie, ice cream, caramel filled bowls to be worn.  Yup, this is 40.  Welcome to the club my love.  Don't feel sorry for him.  He went on a great golfing trip to Chicago and WI with his buddies to celebrate too.

Lots of Easter fun was had and if you click the box below it will open up a page where you can view a slideshow of the merry mayhem.  Tip: Click on any of the pics to enlarge them.

Doppelganger Stance-Zane's Not Wearing Pants

Wait, no stories this month?  Come on, there's always a story.  Alright fine.  I guess I've got one story.

Going through the checkout line at the grocery store Zane puts his baby doll he brought from home on the checkout counter to be "rung up".  The clerk obviously didn't see him do it; looks around (for a little girl) and says, "Who's is this?"  I nonchalantly and without thought motion to Zane and say, "Oh it's his."  The woman scrunches her face, looks at the bagger and rolls her eyes.  Oh no she didn't?  Oh yes she did but why even go there?  Why even waste my breath.  Old school vs. new school.  I'll do me and let her be.  Besides, Momma can't be goin all momma bear on someone in front of their kid.  Seriously, truth?  I was just in too much shock to form the words.  Well at least I gave her something to talk about with her friends.  Maybe they'll tell her to ¡cálmate!
