Oma and Dziagball Holiday Kickoff - November 2014

If last month wasn't awesome enough with Cousin Joe's visit (doncha feel SUPER loved now) Oma and Dzia Dzia are here and there isn't really anything else worth writing about! But I guess for the sake of capturing the month I will do my best to include all the "other" stuff. If I have to. Okay, some of the "other" stuff was pretty cool too.

Oma and Dzia Dzia are Here!

This year Oma and Dzia Dzia traveled West to kick off our holiday season and what better way to get it started than with our local Holiday Stroll complete with train exhibits, horse drawn carriages, hot cocoa, and a little visit with Santa.

 

By the end of the night we saw many little people melt-down.  I'm happy to have captured our very own small person in the throws of a Christmas cheer overloaded shoulder ride.  Nodding and smiling an encouraging smile to all the other parents with their very own "bundle of joy".  We couldn't stop laughing.  We're terrible.

 
Bonding 

Nothing planned.  No need to get out of our jammas.  No fighting traffic to get somewhere.  Our favorite bonding moments happen in the quiet.

Then there's this little gem of a moment caught on video.  OG Cookie Monster (Dzia dzia loves him some cookies!) and his son (Cookie Monster the 2nd) encouraging the next generation of cookie monsters.  Sigh.

Firsts


Zane's 1st time on the skateboard: Me a bundle of nerves ready to swoop in and "save" my baby from a skull crushing fall.  Daddy, smiling from ear to ear egging him on.  Zane, seriously focused and pushing his limits.  This IS who this kid IS!  It's such a strange crossroad in life.  I was the kid who did jumping contests off the roof of her garage (boy did I get in trouble for that one) and now I'm this person with the parental panic button constantly being pushed.  Who am I?!

"In 3 years this has NEVER happened. I guess vomiting sure does tucker you out."

This is the first time EVER that he has fallen asleep just chillin.  This just DOESN'T happen!  My go-go baby is down for the count.

The boys got to take their first pony ride at a great animal filled birthday party.  I was SHOCKED when Kaz said "yes" but of course not surprised that Zane did too.  They were so happy and proud of how brave they were.

I've taken the picture above many times.  It's one of my favorite moments that keeps repeating.  The nights when their Daddy is away, usually at work, are difficult but the bonus is a little brotherly bonding time through the gift of reading.  Kaz helps me put his brother to bed by reading to him for me. I can't get enough of this special time.

October 2014

Oh October 2014 you were so much fun.  Our FAVORITE month of the year!  Some people love Thanksgiving, Christmas, and there are those weirdos who love Valentines Day but us, we love us some Halloween.  Really it's the whole month we love.  What's not to love?  Pumpkin patches; pumkin food; carving pumpkins; cool costumes; candy; creepy decorations; and one of us has a birthday too!  It's PERFECT.  So much to see and do and since a picture is worth 1000 words I will let my my pics and Facebook posts do most of the talking.  At least I'll try.

As if October wasn't perfect enough Daddy decided it was time to change your world forever Kaz by introducing you to Legos.  Yes P11 opened a very special box his mom held on to for more than 3 decades and shared with his son the wonderment that is Legos.  HIS Legos to be exact, from when HE was a kid.  I'm not sure who was more excited?

Three!?  "Oh where has the time gone?"  NO silly that's not what I'm saying!  I don't think you heard me, THREE!  That's a 3 alarm going off and if you've ever had a 3 year old you should be trembling with fear right about now.  Two's aint got NOTHING on 3's, betta reconize!  Truly it's in your best interest to take note.

Yes our little bundle of energy turned 3 and with the help of some of our friends, what better way to celebrate than running wild in a railroad park with tons of fall fun!

Things you should know about Zane.

If you are the Chief of Police and you give a speech to a room full of people about leadership, expect Zane to stop you in the middle of your speech by standing on his chair and yelling, "Stop everyone!  I'M the LEADER!"  No joke.  Actually happened.  

If you tell Zane to take his socks off before going into your sandbox, don't be surprised if you have to ask him to put his underwear back on.

If you give Zane a choice on his mode of transportation, he will ALWAYS choose the fastest option.

If you put a camera in front of his face, he will be CUTE!

Lastly, it is possible for Zane to paint without making a mess (LOOK at that concentration!)... for at least the first 3 minutes.

Special Mother-Son Bonding Time - Where ever does he get his theatrics?

Halloween!

This years costumes were all about inspirations and aspirations.  Tapping into Kaz's aspirations of one day being a paleontologist we created his ultimate dream, using dino DNA to create his very own dinosaur to ride.  To think, he's never seen Jurrasic Park.  

Zane has been completely enamored with a particular crossing guard, Mr. Larry.  He's Zane's hero with the big red sign that tells people what to do.  He's all about it!  I couldn't tell Zane what his costume was nor did I dare show it to him because I knew as soon as he saw it he would never want to take it off.  The night before the big day I brought it out.  He HAD to put it on right then and there, instantly directing traffic in the house, telling us what to do.  The next morning he was just beside himself and Mr. Larry got a little misty when he saw his little mini me.  I had never seen Mr. Larry smile till then.  I think EVERYONE got a little misty that morning in the cross walk.

Momma had a costume too; the devil wears Prada is what I was dubbed.  TRUST, no Prada here.  I was Azrael from Dogma but I'll take the compliment.  Really I'm just putting this picture in here because I love these men and they are too cute not include and dang I look good in that suit.

Parental Panic Button Engaged!  Kaz's 1st Costume Parade; there is so much noise, music pumping, chaos, people, movement, will he crumble, panic, and launch into tears (like he did at the walk-a-thon he participated in earlier this month)?  Nope, he LOVED every minute of it.  Look at my costume!  Look at me!  There I was, standing there.  A bundle of nerves.  I was the one in tears (hiding it of course) so relieved for my happy boy. 

Let the trick-or-treating be gotten!  First we ventured out with our besties and then we cruised our hood with the neighbor boys.  The kids loved all the candy (we did too, er hum, especially the chocolate.  What?  They won't miss it.) and we loved watching them run the streets with their friends with complete abandon and sheer delight.













Cousin JOE!

A definite highlight to our month: Little cousin Joe came for a visit from Seattle by way of the Midwest by way of the Southeast AND he spent the night!  The boys were THRILLED.  This is Kaz demanding special bonding time with cool cousin Joe, "No paparazzi! 

Yup, October was pretty jam packed full of fun.  A wonderful start to the holiday season for everyone.
